It is the first time when a paragliding competition is organised in the extraordinary scenery of Leaota Mountains, the Carpathian Garden’s Land of Bears. We fly here since several years now and we are proud to claim that we discovered a magnificent thermal universe, blessed with fantastic XC potential. The region is very pilot friendly: good overall climate, big and clear thermals, low general turbulence level, big and non-demanding take-off places, many big and non-demanding reserve landing sites. In short, we can say that the area is just equaly suitable to competition level and highly experienced XC pilot and also for intermediate pilots looking to exceed their barriers and access new wonderful flight achievements in real confortable environment, both physical and psychical.
The region is also glittering because of its extraordinary, untouched and unpolluted, purity of wild nature. The landscape and the magnificent sights are breathtaking beautiful. The flora and fauna varieties are masterly painted in the lush and misterios region of Leaota Mountains. The wildlife successfully maintains one of its last nutural bastions here. It seems that all these also attracted the producers of the new “Hitfield “ motion picture. Kevin Costner, the star of Hitfiled, filmed here in the summer of 2011 and he remained deeply impressed by this peaceful and extraordinary area.
The region is dotted by a multitude of small specific villages where ancient traditions are carefully conserved, perpetued and held as a treasurous heritage. People are very hospitable and so kind and, oh, the local food just touches your senses deeply, with the finest and the most exquisite traditional taste experience. This superbe area, therefore, offers an unique cultural and social experience and a mostly impressive and savoury mix of great flying and XC, magnificent scenery, wild and daring nature and so much peacefulness.
And THE FUN???
We intend not only to offer you a best quality paragliding competition but also joy, refreshing fun and exceptional good time for this let’s call it “flying holiday”: the fun will consistently be here at Priseaca Open 2012! Let us spoil you!
Each night will bring you a special event, followed by a crazy party (we really hope you can cope with it after so much flying). Among the daily events, we mention: rock concert, folk concert, Salsa&Bachata workshop, Folklore&Latino Dance Show, Latino Party, Oldies but Goldies Party, Campfire Guitar Party and other surprises.
And this is not intended to be a surprise: the beer is, of course, on the house!!!!
Because we are so tributary to the proverb that says “eating should be fun”, we include it in the fun chapter: each evening, the greatest Chef in Targoviste city, the famous Doru Bucataru’, will cook, in a huge traditional iron cast gipsy pot, upon the ad-hoc beech wood fire, the best dinners you’ve ever had; you can watch, ask and learn the most intimate secrets of the best outdoors cooking in the world. And, if you desire, of course you may help Doru in achieving his gastronomy masterpieces!
And, because you MUST live this genuine Romanian experience, in the last evening (sunday, 2nd of september), we will also bring you a specific sheepfold food session!
All these beautiful and unforgetable moments will happen in the competition’s camp, under the open sky, along the mountain riverbed of the Dambovita river.
